Finding wooden picture frames for a gallery wall can get expensive, especially when you’re talking about large gallery walls with 6+ pictures. Therefore, finding budget wooden picture frames is pretty important when we’re talking about larger scale projects.
Thrifting
Thrift stores are great places to find cheap items and in many cases, you can shop for a picture mat at places like Michael’s that will fit inside the frame and suit any number of art sizes.
The down side is that many other people have the same idea and they can be hard to find. We shopped many thrift stores and found that a lot of the frames left we’re not quite the right shade of wood to match our home made shelves LINK from Lowes. It is still worth looking however and you never know what you’ll find.
Brick and Mortar Stores
One of the most affordable place we found budget wooden picture frames was Hobby Lobby but you have to make sure you go on the right sale week. Hobby Lobby has rotating sales every Sunday (although the physical locations are closed on Sundays) and if you time your purchase right, your frames will be 50% off. We opted for this rustic wood frame, which comes in various sizes.
Online Stores
Finding budget wooden picture frames wasn’t as easy as we’d hoped online! And it was really hard to find real glass. We want the budget cost but not the budget look! We did come across two multi-buys on Amazon that worked great for us. A shadow box, 8×8 teak, 3 pack made of solid wood and real glass and a 10×10 grain picture frames square classic natural wood 2 pack both buys worked out at under $10 a frame. We also ordered (and were happy with) a natural wooden picture frames 9×12, 100% Eco Unfinished solid wood with thick molding which didn’t have real glass but did have a shadow box look which we think gives a better quality look. Finally, we bought an Egofine 12×16 picture frames natural wood frame which again had plexiglass but had a nice option of double matting.
